Our Doubts (Open,X-Force)

Alright, listen up! Logan looked around the room at the individuals seated at the table before him. I summon all of you here today, because three days ago the Xavier Institute received a message on one of our secure channels which at the time we believed it was from Charles Xavier. Cerebro was able to verify the authenticity of that message and confirm that is indeed Charles Xavier.

Logan stood over the computer console, searched for Genosha in their database as a holographic projection of the island of Genosha appeared above the table. The message was encrypted but we were able to trace the source to somewhere in the ruins of Genosha. The island of Genosha was located just off the Southeastern African coast, northwest from Seychelles. The entire island was reduced to rubble over a decade ago, the entire population dead, and the land vacant. Until today Logan thought that Genosha remained an empty uninhabited island.

X-Force is being sent in to investigate. Our mission is to determine if it’s really Xavier. We find him and we bring him back. If we encounter any problems we will deal with it along the way. It’s as simple as that. If it’s not Xavier then we find him, make him tell us those who’s behind all of this, take them out then if somehow he survives the journey bring him back.

Her eyes were closed as the meeting began, having been one of the first to arrive since she came with Logan. The red head sat quietly in her seat, and although it may have seemed to those who didn't know her like she was ignoring what was being said, the opposite was true.

Jean Grey wasn't a member of X-Force, but when she used Cerebro to verify that the message received was indeed from Charles, there was no way that she was going to stay at the school and do nothing. Xavier was more than a mentor to her and often she considered him to be like her father. He was the one responsible for teaching her all that she knew regarding her abilities and in a very real way, he saved her when her powers first manifested. Today, along with Wolverine and X-Force, she hoped to do the same.

It had been a few weeks now since she lost control of her telepathic powers back at the Summer BBQ, and because of that she was more confident in her ability to maintain control. Logan was the only one Jean confided in regarding the trouble with her abilities and he was the only one that knew the truth of why she left the way she did months prior.

Opening her eyes once he was finished speaking, an affirmative nod was given as their eyes met. It was time to bring their leader home.

Johnny Blaze rode up to the meeting place and then parked his bike and entered the Cavern where the rest of the X-force had gathered. He took his seat on the opposite to the of Jean Grey which was literally the fist seat he found to be free. When everyone was Gathered, he listened to Wolverine give the small mission briefing.

Johnny had hear Xavier had gone missing, but he never knew many of the details to his disappearance. It had been a while since he had seen Logan, regrettably missing the summer party to stop one of Blackhearts latest schemes. When he received the summons he came a quickly as he could.

Their mission was to go to the island of Genosha and locate a man who may or may not be Xaveir and the rest of the mission would unfold from there. "What exactly was the message that was sent?" Johnny asked. Hopefully it wasn't private information, though it could have just been somthing as simple as 'I am alive' or somthing similar which would not be too impactful on the mission other than that it might have been sent by Xaviar himself

Logan was the best there is at leaving to face demons from the past and coming back but when it came to leaving their life without a trace Charles Xavier won every single time. Since Logan had joined the X-Men, Xavier had faked his own death twice and vanished from the face of the Earth on several occasions. Logan had watched Jean spend countless hours operating Cerebro trying to reach out to Xavier and pinpoint his location only to receive psyched static. It was possible that Charles Xavier was at some far and distant place that exceeded telepathic range. Then there was always the possibility that Charles used his telepathic ability to shield himself from Cerebro’s detection because he was on some short of secret mission. Sometimes, we don’t want to be found. He knew all too well how that felt.

The original message was unclear, possibly due to the system used during the sending process and signal strength. Thanks to Jean, we were able to restore some of the message once we were able to decrypt the scramble channel.

Logan used his security clearance to pull up and play the recording for the rest of the team. "Greetings, my X-Men. I hope all is well with you… I have so much to share…In the company of my solitude….. accomplish that which I purpose.”

Logan quickly glance over at Jean then the rest the team. Even after all she had been through, Jean had never let them down. Yet he was still concerned about Jean accompanying X-Force on this mission. Maybe that’s wasn’t the smartest decision. Much as he wanted to, Logan couldn’t bring himself to say no. Jean can take care of herself.

It’s not much but it’s all we have.

Bucky listened to Logan’s debriefing on this assignment and it was interesting. Bucky had never know Charles Xavier that well until the day he came to the BBQ party, seeing his best friend and brother Logan there. It was this place that gave Logan a second chance at life, just like for Bucky, who was still getting used to this new world. He had been training and fighting crime for over the past few months before settling down and getting everything taken care of. Bucky still has questions about his past after his so called ‘death’ but that would come at another time. What mattered is the now as Bucky sat with not only Logan, but Jean Grey and Johnny Blaze aka The Ghost Rider. He was a part of this group called X-Factor that Logan wanted him to be a part of. He trusted Logan so it would be no crime to join.

He sat at the table, listening to the questions being asked by X-Factor members including Jean. The mission from what Logan explained was simple. Then there was something he thought about Genosha as Bucky cleared his throat. “Logan”, Bucky started to speak. “Speaking about Genosha…is it true that there’s some kind of faction down there? Like a brother hood group or something like that?” ,he asked his best friend and comrade. When Bucky returned to the living world, he did some research on all the heroes around the world including the bad guys. The brotherhood of destruction were a group of mutants who were fed up with the government, how they treated there own kind. “Do we know if they still live in Genosha because if so, we need to be prepared and ready”, he suggested as he sat back and listened.

Logan nodded. "The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The Brotherhood is just a bunch of hired goons, believed to have disbanded after the questionable lost of their leader." Logan was sure that Bucky would understand this. A leader is absolutely nothing without a team, and every good team requires leadership. Wars are not won by the victories on the battlefield, but by the heroes and leaders that made a difficult decision during critical situations. The choices we make determine the people we become. Basic concepts they all knew well.

Besides we have more important things to worry about than the Brotherhood. Logan with a deep breathe, leaned back in his chair, before answering. Normally Logan wouldn’t address rumors since it was just a bunch of talk to him however, in this case the situation called for him to bring it to the rest of the team attention. The team has a right to know what they were getting into before they step foot on the plane. "There’s a rumor of an old Sentinel base beneath the ruins of Genosha. We don’t know the location of the Sentinels hidden base or if one even exists."

Logan leaned forward over the computer console to search for the massive file on The Sentinels. It would take him too long to go through all the information the X-Men gathered over the years on the Sentinels. He didn’t want to be here all day giving a lecture on these oversized remote controlled tin can robots. "The Sentinels are gain purple and grey robots program to locate, capture and kill mutants." Logan provided a 360 degree, three dimensional holographic projection of the Sentinels Mark I- Mark VI, which appeared before the team above the table. "There are several different types of models with various height, weight, and sizes. These Sentinels are equipped with various energy weapons and restraining devices, capable of flight, and long range mutant detection scanners. If there are any remaining Sentinels on Genosha they would have been deactivated when the island was abandoned. Shouldn't be a problem but keep ya eyes opened and ya fingers crossed."

Betty was in Red She Hulk mode for this mission, wearing her signature black attire. She sat there with her arms crossed, leaned back a bit on the chair and listening to the briefing of this assignment. So what if there were sentinels, they were big but not all bad and scary looking. Betty would just have to jump on them, smash and find a way to unplug those robots. She joined this team because Betty wanted so much more to do. Bruce gave Betty her blessing to be on the team and it mattered to Betty a lot. She promised to Bruce that she would be just fine and she's a Hulk? What else could go wrong on this one?

Betty joined The X-Force and didn't know each member. Well she goes remember Jean, Logan, Ghost Rider but the other guy was a mystery. Yes, the sidekick of Captain America, James Buchanan better known as Bucky. Of course, he was well know and a hero to our country, but it didn't mean that he would get a free pass on her account. She had to pick her friends and keep them closer as they say. "Well if you ask me i'm ready to get out there" she said to the group, still arms crossed and said...."I'm ready to smash" she said as Betty smirked a bit and waited for the assignment to continue.

Dark Angel found herself sitting next to a brown haired man in a really nice black leather jacket. He must be the rider of the other bike she had parked bed's next to. She herself had decided to wear black nylon bike pants with a few thin sheets of Kevlar body armor. Her top was simply a form fitting black top. The top of a knife stuck out of her boot; a hand gun was strapped to each of her thighs. Her rifle was sitting just outside the room; she figured it was unneeded at the moment. Tessa's eyes traveled around the rest of the room. Was this it then? Six people to infiltrate a country. Six people was the entire membership of this X-Force.

Dark Angel had done all the public source research she could on anything that caught her interest. She had also used S.H.E.I.L.Ds files to look up locations that didn't exist in her world. Tessa remembered reading about Genosha, but she couldn't remember most of it. "What about a humanoid population," she said, finally speaking. "Do we have to worry about civillians or hostile forces, besides these robot things?"

On Gemini Earth, she had lead and been a part of many pre-mission breifings. She wanted as much information as possible before she fully commuted. Being in this breifing made her feel more at home than she had in a long time. She could almost feel the adrenaline reving up for action.

"Genosha once had a population of 20 million, all dead and gone. Although we won’t know for sure until we’re within sensor range and can sweep the entire area." Logan looked around the room at the group of individual that had assembled before him. If they had additional questions, now is the time. If anything happens they would have to learn as they go along. Some thing could only be learned the hard way. "Well! This is it boys and girls. Suit up and bring your gear to the hanger. We’ll load the bikes on the Blackbird. Last chance to back out otherwise we leave in 10 minutes."
