'Where am I? What happened?' 'You passed out, that's what happened.' 'Why? Ah, my elbow and shoulder and hip hurts. Why do they hurt?' 'Because you fell on something hard.' 'I dreamt I was floating on a warm ocean, but I was dry.' 'I think it's time we opened our eyes and got up.' 'What's the odd rushing sound? It kinda sounds like traffic or the ocean.' 'Well those aren't really close together so I don't know. But I think you should open your eyes to find out.'[/i]
Tessa opened her eyes, ready to slam them shut against the sun, but this was not needed. No sun was shining. She could have sworn it was up before everything went black. Tessa slowly got to her feet, but her head still started swimming. She knelt back down, bowing her head to put it closer to her heart. When the world stopped spinning and her head stopped pounding, Tessa stood up again and looked around her. There wasn't much around though. Just fields of waving crops as far as the eye could see. She needed to see further than the normal human right now. Perhaps there was a town nearby with a communications tower. She needed to contact Radar and find out where the rest of her team was.
Her thoughts suddenly stopped as it dawned on her, the field she was standing in was far too large for anything on Earth, at least not since the main invasion. A memory rushed back to her at this realization, as though it had triggered the memory. Tessa remembered being sucked backwards suddenly, as if by one of those wind machines used to test air flow over things like cars and planes, but in reverse.
No one seemed to be around, and it was rather dark. Dark mist formed behind her, seeming to come from the scares on her back. Black angel wings, she had to concentrate on black angel wings. The mist condensed, not changing its color, into a lovely pair of large black angel wings poked through specially desinged slits in her ankle length black leather coat. Her torso was covered by a black ribbed tank-top and her legs by black cargo pants. The bottoms of the pants were tucked into the tops of black combat boots. Her eyes changed colors to a hawk gold, and suddenly things far away came into sharp focus. She reached down to check that her knife was still hidden in her boot. It was, but none f her other weapons seemed to be around her. Tessa pumped her wings twice, building up a down draft before giving a powerful flap combined with a powerful jump. This was enough to launch her into the air, and a couple more pumps allowed her to gain enough altitude to be able to see the lights a town in the far distance. She looked up at the moon and judged she had just enough time to get to the edge of it before the sun started to rise.
The horizon was just beginning to lighten when Tessa landed just outside the out skirts of the city, her wings dissolving into the black mist and then disappearing.

A brown and white sign read as she walked down what seemed to be the main street. Now to find someplace where she could get some sleep, and then perhaps a way to get in touch with the rest of her team. But first, sleep. She made her way towards a dark alley. At least she was still in New York. A shuffling sound behind her did little to distract her from her search for a suitable place to crash for awhile. It wasn't until she felt a knife point slice through her leather coat, shirt, and nick her skin. "Yew jus gimme yet money, an' everything will f-fine,"[/I] a shakey, whimsy male voice said from behind her. She slowly started to raise her arms up. "Now just calm down Mister. I don't want any trouble okay?"[/color] Her voice was soothing and smooth. Maybe too much so for the next thing she knew the man had spun her around with strength his voice didn't have and pushed her up against a near by brick wall. A switch blade pressed to her throat by a thinned, shaking hand. "Just shuddup okay? I just want her wallet. I don wanna kill yew, ya see. I ain't inta tha'. But I...I gotta pay my boss or,"[/I] he paused to sniff and wipe his nose, taking his hand off her back for a moment. Tessa was just about to make her move when his hand came back. "Hey now n-nothing funny. I'm smarter 'an I look. I'll just search yew okay."[/I] He started to pat her down, the knife still on her throat.
