Hal was standing in the Living Room area of his newest apartment, he lost his last one due to his being off planet for the last year and a half and neglecting to pay his rent during that time. Sadly, that was one of the risks he took, being a member of The Green Lantern Corps, being called away at a moments notice, and not being able to tell anyone. This was his third apartment since the merger of the universes, and while it wasn't fun to be constantly moving around so much, he didn't complain about it. He just accepted it as a hazard of the job, and left it at that, which was something that surprised some of his friends and colleagues in both the League, and Corps. Even Carol was surprised, mentioning how much more matured and grown up that was of him.
One thing that hadn't changed however, was Hal's love for Coast City and his determination to protect it and it's people, a resolve that was about to be tested. He was about to grab The TV Guide, to see what was on, when his building had started to violently shake, knocking down pictures and trophies, to the floor, as well as setting off more than just a few car alarms. Atfirst he figured it was an earthquake, the city was close enough to the Fault to feel them every now and then. He decided he would, and should as the city's protector, go fly out and see if anyone needed aid or rescuing. Walking over to one of the boxes that he had yet to open, he knelt down and pulled out his Power Battery. "In Brightest Day, in Blackest Night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's Light!"
After saying his oath, Hal flew up, phased through the walls of his building, and flew off to survey the damage. Atfirst, the damage didn't seem to be too sever, but the further towards the epicenter he flew, he started seeing over turned vehicles and even building that looked like they were seconds from collapsing. Not wanting to wait for the Fire and Rescue, he could hear their sirens heading in his direction already, he quickly created braces and scaffolding around the buildings, before scanning the building, to see if there was anyone who appeared to be injured. Thankfully, all he saw were people huddling together, in rooms with the least amount of windows, or glass, and not trying to make their way outside, for fear of after shocks. This spoke of their experience with these kind of disasters, as well as their faith in Hal. He couldn't help but smile at that thought, as he continued to scan buildings, before he came onto the actual epicenter of the 'quake', which he was glad was in the center of a still vacant part of the city, which while it had been reduced to basically rubble, another quick scan with his ring showed no bodies, alive or otherwise.
Flying down, however, he noticed something odd, in the center of said crater, something that made his blood run cold. A metal pod-like mechanism, that looked almost like an escape pod from a space ship. He quickly created several hands to move the debris away, and dig the pod out. Although he didn't know who the passenger was, what their intent might be, or if they were still around, he couldn't help but think about Hank Henshaw and Mongul, and what they did to the city all those years ago. He then heard a sound, like foot steps of someone approaching him from behind, and expecting an ambush, he spun around and fired a blast, not thinking it could be an innocent or someone looking for help.
