Koyuki stepped out of the gate, covering a yawn. She'd been woken by one of the flight attendants only about ten or fifteen minutes ago when the plane began it's descent. She had her carry-on bag over her shoulder and followed the crowd to the baggage claim area. She waited for the crowd to disperse a bit before going up to get her own bag. It was a single suitcase in pale blue. She yawned again, not used to the time difference yet. She pulled her bag to the currency exchange counter, then to the exit where the cabs were waiting. She walked up to one of them and the driver helped her put her bag in the trunk.
"Where to miss?" he asked her.
"The Xavier Institute, please," she replied, getting into the back of the cab.
"Sure thing miss," the driver replied, reversing before pulling out of the drive. She fished out her money, counting out the bills she would need to pay for the ride. It took not even a full hour before the cab pulled up outside the Institute. "Here ya are miss," the driver said, climbing out of the cab to help Koyuki with her bag.
"Thank you," she said, handing him the money. She grabbed her bag's handle and walked to the gate. She saw a button with a speaker on the bricks next to the gate and pushed the button. She knew it was a doorbell; it was the same setup they had at her home back in Tokyo. She removed her finger from the button, waiting for someone to come.
She knew they'd be expecting her. Her mother had told her that she had written a letter to them a few weeks ago saying that Koyuki was going to be showing up there, so she just waited.
