The Weeping Angels
The Weeping Angels were a species of winged humanoids from the early universe, so called because they covered their faces, giving them a weeping appearance, to prevent trapping themselves in stone form for eternity.
Now, these are seen to be a legend, written by those in the Times Medieval depicting statues that, when you would turn your head or close your eyes, they would be freed from their stoney prison and vanquish the living, sending their souls to the afterlife.
They were kind of right.
Of course, these aren't legends. They're real. And they're deadly. The Doctor uncovered a pair of Weeping Angels in Chechnya while in the SAS in 1996. The two killed his entire team, and he only managed to trap them by making them stare at each other. From there, The Doctor researched anything he could about The Angels, and this is what he found:
They, at first glance, appear to be statues of... well, of Weeping Angels. But these are living, breathing, and homicidal creatures. They're smart. They're fast. And they're the only psychopaths in the universe to kill you nicely. He found this out by having met one of his best friends and one of the only survivors of the Weeping Angels in the SAS: Dennis Miller. He was a rookie during that time, but he fell to the Angels. Dennis was lucky enough to have been sent back a short enough distance to have only grown up a couple of decades.
The Angels, they feed off of the energy used by sending someone back in time, allowing them to live until they died of natural causes. Unless they weren't hungry, then they just snapped one's neck.
The most important defense to be utilized when facing Weeping Angels is to keep staring at them. Just stare at them, for as long as they're being watched, then they can't move; they're "quantum locked" in that position until someone looks away, or until someone blinks. And The Doctor can only tell you this once:
When facing the Weeping Angels, and you have to listen to this: Don't. Blink. Don't take your eyes off of them for even a second, or they'll kill you.
That's all The Doctor has uncovered on The Weeping Angels, but be warned.
Don't. Blink.
