Lois knew she still had a lot of thinking to do- a lot of real processing when it came to the whole thing, but she was happy to push the thoughts to the side for the time being and just focus on the glorious man holding her high in the air. She had been so distracted by what he had been talking about, she hadn’t given much thought to the beauty around her. Or maybe she was just getting a little used to being in his arms.
Which was not a bad thing, she had decided that much long ago. It felt like, in one way, a dream was coming true. She was finally going to be able to spend her time with the super hero she loved so very much, and on a somewhat even footing as far as truths went. That was something she hadn’t even thought possible.
Still, there was a weirdness factor. There were things she wasn’t allowing herself to deal with. Like how long he had held this from her and why he had told her now. What did it mean for them, in the long run? Would this really work? There were a million questions, but for once the reporter wasn’t looking for all the answers.
All she wanted, right at that moment, was to be close to him. The rest would fall into place where and when it was needed.
“I think you mean Lane and Kent,” she corrected with a hum, “you think you get top billing? I’m still the reporter who can run circles around you when it comes to writing a good story.” She was teasing him, of course, but that was what she liked to do. Knowing she could do it just as easily with Superman now seemed the easiest of the transitions she was going to have to make with the new news floating in her mind.
Go figure.
“I bet you did.” She knew his mother had been one hell of a woman. To raise a guy like him? No doubt there was a greatness about her very few had inside of them. That only raised more questions! She wanted to know all about his real childhood- not just the one he told people as Clark Kent. Now she was going to make sure he was honest with her about everything. Suddenly, it was like she would be able to get to know Clark for the very first time. How different were the two versions of his history going to be?
It was going to be one hell of an interesting dinner, that was for sure.
“Oh, you know, whenever you’re not busy saving the world,” she replied with a smile, “I don’t want you blurring off in the middle of our meal, you know? Though I guess duty calls when it calls.” Wasn’t like he’d be gone long, anyway, given his super speed. He could probably put out a fire, beat up ten different robbers and save three kittens from trees all over the world before she came back from the bathroom.
