LA was such a boring scene.
Okay, boring in the sense that everything was the same. Not boring in the sense that nothing happened. Plenty of things happened. There were always demons and baddies to deal with, and the end of the world to prevent. Never a dull moment in that regard. But, honestly, it kind of felt like all his heroics were sort of blurring together of late. Bad guy pops up, has some evil scheme to destroy the world, and gets flattened into the ground before getting too far along his little plot. That was the way of thing. The natural order, almost.
Couldn't things be a bit more exciting than that?
It'd been more interesting when he'd been a ghost. At least then the slips between reality and hell had kept him on his toes. This... was just dull. Routine. How was it that saving the day was starting to feel like a full time job? And not exactly the kind one could easily walk away from. Not that he wanted to. All he wanted was something to change the pace up a little, that was all. Make it seem less like he was doing work without the money to make it worthwhile.
Admittedly, having Illyria around helped a little bit. She was nothing if not unpredictable. But that wasn't enough for him. Having a weird friend wasn't going to keep him satisfied for very long, even if she was fun to play video games with.
It was amusing when she didn't understand something, or lost.
Sighing heavily, the platinum blond vampire moved himself along the street, practically dragging himself along as he found himself on yet another patrol. Not only that, but a devastatingly boring one, to boot. Normally he found at least one baddy to slap around, but not tonight. No, tonight the cosmos saw fit to play games with him. Someone above seemed to know that he was bored with his current situation and had decided to mock him about it by removing all demons from the area. Perfect.
He couldn't even go to the local demon bar- they were still looking around for him, expecting him to pay for the damages he had caused the last time he showed up there. There was normal bars, of course, but he was a little nervous about super hot ladies coming up to him, looking for a spot of fun. Weird thing to be worried about, sure, but he wasn't going to be tempted. One: they usually ended up trying to trick him and two: he was in love with someone else and didn't need them hanging around him anyway.
So he just had to keep roaming the streets, hoping to get lucky every time he glanced between two buildings.
It was going to be a long night.
